G Skene – There wasn’t a lot of damage done to boats or motors this year but one member managed to stand out above the rest. He had a brand new boat that didn’t receive one scratch throughout the whole year but he did manage to go barefoot waterskiing and bend Jae Green’s ski pole; he went kneeboarding and managed to break Steve Hyland’s new kneeboard by ripping the screw and bracket out when he wiped out (who was driving the boat!!); he was dancing at Otematata and he managed to break Steve Hyland’s toe while doing the can-can; Greg then managed to injure his foot while kneeboarding so badly that his wife had to drive home from Otematata. Not bad for his first summer of boating with the club.

Hilary ALLAN-While at Lake Benmore at Christmas time Hilary crashed into the large rock next to the. Claimed she didn’t know it was there and that the strong easterly wind blew her onto it. The boat was picked up by a big wave and blowen backwards by the wind. The boat motor was slamed down onto the rock. There was a large bang and the boat was very hard to steer. The boat suffered only minor damage. Bent propellor, bent drive shaft, stiff steering. And a service with a change of gear box, power steering, and a radio fitted. Not bad for $6,000.
